Un petit détour cette semaine en Asie, où la population s'embrase. Sans mauvais jeu de mot, bien sûr. Je ne fais évidemment pas référence à la crise horrifique du Covid-19 en Inde et ces photos de bûchers qui ont bien marqué l'opinion, mais aux manifestations pro-démocratie qui secouent la région. A commencer par la Birmanie qui a connu le 1er février un coup d'Etat. L'ampleur du mouvement contestataire est inédit, la répression beaucoup moins... On ira voir ensuite ce qu'il se passe en Thaïlande qui se bat contre une royauté qui, ces dernières années en particulier, a un peu trop pris le melon. Deux mobilisations qui s'allient à distance pour contrer le pouvoir exorbitant laissé à l'armée.
A little detour this week in Asia, where the whole population gets on fire. Obviously, no pun intented. I am not referring to the horrific Covid-19 crisis in India and those pictures of bonfires that have shocked public opinion, but to the pro-democracy protests which are challenging the region. In February, the 1st, a military coup has striked Myanmar. The extent of the protest movement is unprecedent, the repression much less... Afterwards, we'll go to what's happening in Thailand, that fights a royalty which has got too big for their boots, especially those last few years. Two protests which have remotely joined forces to combat the exorbitant power left into the army's hands.
